The Epiphany of The Lord
The Gospel today is a story of two kings, one living in a palace, hard hearted, jealous and fearful, the other an infant, meek and vulnerable, born in poverty. The one king is bent on destroying the other, regardless of the lies he must tell or the cost to others, even to the cost of their lives. The other king bent on saving all of humanity, even to the cost of His life.
Who will win?
We know the answer to the question above. The real and most pressing question is who will win in your heart? Will it be the one who presents the “good” of this world as wealth, fame, glamor and instant gratification, regardless of the cost, even the cost of our immortal lives? Or will it be the one who offers the “good” of this world as helping those in need, giving of one’s self for the other even if it means loss for ourselves and making a sacrifice of our time to pray to our creator for the promise of eternity in heaven?
When it comes down to it, the choice seems simple but the path, that living day to day as a Christian should, is not that easy. Never the less the big question remains, which do you choose?
