Fourth Sunday of Lent 2015

Here we are beginning the fourth week of Lent. How are you doing? Are you keeping true to your Lenten promises, did you even make any Lenten promises? Have you been keeping true to the practices of additional prayer, alms giving and fasting during this season? Did you slip up and eat meat last Friday? Well, the good news is that it is never too late to start! In our busy lives, these days, it can be very difficult to fit anything else into our hectic schedules. The fact remains, however, that there is nothing in our lives that is more important than our relationship with our God, our Savior and our Redeemer. It is only through the strengthening of this relationship with God that we make ourselves into people that are ready to do the work of God here on earth, and this is the very thing that we are certainly called to do. If we do no not consciously make efforts to pray, extend ourselves for others, suffer some minor discomforts or even deprive ourselves of some extravagance for the sake of deepening our relationship with our God and Father how can we be called His children? So now is the time, now is the day, to get it together, get with the plan, kick it up a notch, even for these last few weeks of Lent, to make ourselves worthy vessels of God, be that “good soil” that can yield a bountiful harvest. Do something, anything, to get yourself better connected to your loving God and Savior, to be ready to feel the joy of the Resurrection come Easter morn and to truly rejoice that you are one of the chosen ones through the saving gift of the Son, a fellow son or daughter of God the Father. Amen.

Your servant in Christ,

Deacon Bill
